These five friends came to Dexter to get a college degree. What they'll really get is an education. ""Gossip Girl" goes to college in this tart satire . . . crisp and surprisingly steely." "--Publishers Weekly" When five freshmen arrive at Dexter College, a small liberal arts school in the quiet town of Home, Maine, the drama unfolds as quickly as the first keg is tapped. There's Shipley--blonde and beautiful, the object of envy and more than a little lust. Her edgy roommate, Eliza, came to Dexter to get noticed, and she has the attitude and the mouth to prove it. Tom is a jock-turned-artist--handsome, privileged, used to getting his own way. Sensitive Nick is Tom's wake-and-bake, pot-smoking roommate. And then there's Adam Gatz, a freckle-faced local boy and his not-so-little sister, Tragedy. As Shipley, Eliza, Tom, Nick, and Adam find out, the first year of college is more than credits and cramming. It's a time of lust, love, secrecy, and scandal.

Summer Reading, Booking Through Thursday

1 comment :

It’s time for summer reading, so … today’s question? What’s the worst thing you ever did to your reading material? Sand in the bindings from the beach? Dropped into the pool? Covers smeared with sunscreen?
And, if you’ve never done actual summer-time damage … have you EVER damaged your book/magazine/paper? Dropped it in the bathtub? Used it to kill a bug? Spilled with coffee?

Hmm, nice question. Thank God I've never damaged my books. But I've damaged someone else's books (oops!). I was in my freshman year and I borrowed my senior's college books. The books were Discrete Mathematics text books. I used to wrap my books with plastic cover and handle my books with care. But these books, ladies & gentlemen, wasn't wrapped in any cover. So, one day, I went home from campus and since the books are thick, I couldn't put them in my backpack. I carried them around with another handbag. I was riding my motorcycle when the rain started pouring down and I was trapped in traffic jam. Great. Just great. Well, you could guess what happened with those books. My senior's so kind he doesn't get mad knowing the condition of his books. I wrapped those books with plastic cover then. I feel soooo guilty :(

What about you? Have you done a damage to your book ?

The smash-hit debut novel for every woman who has ever had a complicated love-hate friendship.

[Review] The Witches - Roald Dahl

Title of Book : The Witches
Author : Roald Dahl

This Roald Dahl classic tells the scary, funny and imaginative tale of a seven-year-old boy who has a run-in with some real-life witches! "In fairy tales witches always wear silly black hats and black cloaks and they ride on broomsticks. But this is not a fairy tale. This is about REAL WITCHES. REAL WITCHES dress in ordinary clothes and look very much like ordinary women. They live in ordinary houses and they work in ordinary jobs. That is why they are so hard to catch." Witches, as our hero learns, hate children. With the help of a friend and his somewhat-magical grandmother, our hero tries to expose the witches before they dispose of him.

Author : Roald Dahl

Captured by a giant!
The BFG is no ordinary bone-crunching giant. He is far too nice and jumbly. It's lucky for Sophie that he is. Had she been carried off in the middle of the night by the Bloodbottler, or any of the other giants—rather than the BFG—she would have soon become breakfast. When Sophie hears that the giants are flush-bunking off to England to swollomp a few nice little chiddlers, she decides she must stop them once and for all. And the BFG is going to help her!
